Competition authorities approve Loomis takeover

The Canadian competition authorities have approved the takeover of the Mayne Group Canada by DHL Worldwide Express on 31.01.2003. The acquisition of the express and parcels business, known in Canada as Mayne Logistics Loomis, is a logical continuation of Deutsche Post World Net’s global growth strategy.

DHL will, through the takeover of Loomis, significantly increase its market share in Canada while at the same time strengthening its cross-border services to the USA. The ground business of the express service provider DHL is enjoying strong growth and the Loomis service, which specialises in road transport, is an ideal extension.

The Canadian logistics branch of Mayne Group Ltd., Australia’s leading provider in the manufacture and sale of medical supplies, offers courier and express services within Canada and worldwide. It has almost 3,000 employees and is generating annual revenues of around 180 million Euro.
