Deutsche Posts says it will not sell parcel business

Deutsche Post World Net AG said its parcel business is not

up for sale, after WirtschaftsWoche magazine reported the logistic company’s management will decide at its meeting on Tuesday on the future of the business, which could include a divestment.

“Truth is that the sale of the parcel division is in no way on the agenda,” said Deutsche Post in a statement.

“Also, the business EXPRESS (international and national parcel deliveries) posted an operating profit of 176 mln eur in 2001,” it said.

The magazine reported the parcel division posts a loss of roughly 2 mln eur each day on annual sales of roughly 3 bln eur in Germany.
