Exel UK wins contract with Sun Microsystems Inc

Exel, the British logistics provider, announced Wednesday that it has won a multi-million dollar contract with Sun Microsystems Inc.

The deal expands Exel’s existing services to include warehouse and transportation management services.

Todd Starbuck, Exel’s global customer director for Sun, said the two companies worked together to develop several cost-saving measures and productivity improvements for Sun’s primary distribution center and remote distribution sites.

The new system will support a more complex supply chain involving direct factory shipments from Sun’s suppliers and third-party manufacturers, he added.

“We chose to work with Exel so they could focus on what they do best and we could concentrate on our core competencies,” said Sonia Syngal, director of customer fulfillment for Sun.
