Cloud-based PTV Route Optimiser launched

Logistics and traffic software specialist PTV Group has introduced the cloud-based route scheduling solution, PTV Route Optimiser. The tool can be used to schedule deliveries, calculate the best routes and balance the usage of the delivery fleet.

According to PTV, when optimising routes the tool can “take into account all relevant restrictions, such as truck attributes, depot opening hours, driving times, the number of vehicles, the type of freight or customer-specific time windows for delivery”.

It works by linking the warehousing and transport systems with a company’s sales process, and also makes proposals on how to increase efficiency, “for example by adjusting the core fleet, improving the mix of vehicles, saving vehicles by double shifting them or by combining collections with deliveries”.
