Snapdeal/Flipkart deal speculation

India’s Flipkart is “inching closer” to arranging a merger with its fellow online retailer Snapdeal, according to local sources. Reports in the local media suggest that a deal could be agreed within a few weeks, although there has been official comment from either company.

Flipkart and Snapdeal are India’s biggest home-grown online retailers. However, the global giant Amazon has been making a major play in the Indian e-commerce market recently with a hefty investment in its fulfilment and delivery infrastructure.
