Amazon Prime Now launches in Berlin

Amazon has launched its Prime Now service in Berlin – and is also reportedly trialing a two-man delivery service in Munich. As is usual with the Prime Now service, Amazon has announced that Prime customers in Berlin can opt for deliveries within the hour for a fee (€6.99) or opt for a same-day free delivery with a selectable two-hour window.  The minimum order value for a Prime Now delivery in Berlin is €20.

Meanwhile, local media sources have reported that Amazon has been testing “white glove”, two-man deliveries of domestic appliances and furniture in Munich for several weeks. Amazon has relied on carriers like Hermes and DHL for these large item deliveries – so this could be an interesting development. An article published on Logistik Watchblog  earlier this week quoted a company source as saying that Amazon may look to expand the service to other European countries.
