Spanish on-demand freight delivery platform Ontruck raises $10m

Madrid-based on-demand freight delivery platform Ontruck has raised $10m in a Series A round of funding led by Atomico and Idinvest. Ontruck, which was set up last year, has created a platform which connects businesses looking to transport shipments with road freight carriers – so they can get an instant, real-time price for their desired destination, date, and truck specifications.

The Ontruck system currently only operates in Spain, but the company is reportedly testing other European markets.

Other digital freight platforms currently on the market include Cargox, Cargomatic, Convargo, Chronotruck, iCanDelivery, Transfix and Trucker Path and many others. Given the nature of how technology startups tend to proliferate, compete and then consolidate, it is likely that at least some of these platforms will drop by the wayside.
