IBM’s The Weather Company releases ops dashboard for logistics companies

IBM’s The Weather Company has launched its new Operations Dashboard for Ground Transportation, which aims help logistics companies choose routes for their vehicles based on the latest information on weather and road conditions. The customizable dashboard includes updates on factors such as precipitation, wind, fog, ice and pooling water, as well as integrating real-time traffic flow and incident data and flagging up safety hazards.

“By providing freight and logistics companies with a single view of critical weather and traffic information, we are providing them with the ability to make proactive decisions that can reduce inefficiencies and potentially keep their drivers out of harm’s way,” said Mark Gildersleeve, vice president and head of business solutions.

The Operations Dashboard for Ground Transportation includes modules for dispatchers, distribution centre executives and also drivers, who can receive alerts based on their location and trajectory.
