UK Postcomm chairman Corbett reappointment

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Patricia Hewitt, has confirmed that Postcomm Chairman Graham Corbett is to be reappointed for one year. Mr Corbett indicated last July that he would be willing to accept an extension of his appointment for no more than one year from 1 April 2003 so he could oversee the completion of the ground-breaking phase of Postcomm’s work. This approach was recommended to the Secretary of State by the Commission. It will allow Mr Corbett to oversee the completion of Royal Mail’s price control, and the determination of the first access price. Mr Corbett will step down once this work has been completed and a successor identified.
