AmazonFresh expansion

One year after first launching in the UK, the AmazonFresh delivery service is now expanding to 42 more postcodes in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. In a statement issued today (5 June), Amazon said that the online grocery service is now available in 302 postcodes across London and the South East.

In addition to fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, baked goods, dairy and more, AmazonFresh also offers home, electronics, pet supplies, toys, baby, health and beauty products. One hour delivery slots are available from 7 am to 11 pm seven days a week. Customers in selected postcodes have three different options for same day delivery, including 10am for 2pm delivery, 12pm for 5pm delivery and 4pm for 8pm delivery.

The timing of the Amazon announcement on the AmazonFresh expansion is interesting. Ocado – the company which has played a major role in expanded the UK online grocery sector – has just revealed that it has arrange a major tie-up with an international partner. Ocado will be working with an as-yet-unnamed European retailer.
