JD.com opens “unmanned” parcel sorting centre

Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has reportedly launched an “unmanned” parcel sorting centre in Kunshan, Jiangsu province. According to a report published today (2 August) on the China Daily website, “the whole process of the sorting, from parcel selection to loading the truck” can be completed through automatization at the Kunshan centre.

As previously reported by Post&Parcel, JD.com has also been promoting its automation capabilities for the “final mile” of the parcel delivery journey, through the use of both land-based robots and drones.
