Canada Post’s Chopra to step down in March 2018

Deepak Chopra will be stepping down from his position as President and CEO of Canada Post in March 2018. Chopra, who informed the Board of his decision yesterday (14 August), joined Canada Post from Pitney Bowes in 2011.

His leaving date is almost three years before his contract is set to expire.

In a statement issued yesterday, Canada Post said that Chopra has informed the Board of his departure to “provide the time necessary to conduct a search for his replacement and ensure an orderly transition while maintaining momentum at the Corporation”.

The Canada Post statement highlighted how the group has reported a profit in 14 of the last 15 quarters – even though it has had to meet the challenge of a “dramatic decline in mail volumes”.
