Edotech takes over Lasercom in push for Europe

28th March 2003

Edotech claims it has become Europes biggest independent customer-communication company after taking over Switzerlands Lasercom.

The Tewkesbury specialist in bills and statements hopes the deal will give it a spearhead in Europe.

Lasercoms 70 staff handle DATA management and notch up £8m of sales FROM offices in France, Spain and the UK as well as its head office in Geneva.

Edotech employs 740 staff at six sites, and its rapid growth over the past three years has propelled sales to £80m.

It produces 2bn A4 statements in the UK per year and over 500m envelopes for clients such as BT and Barclays.

Chief executive Sam Ferguson said he paid more for Lasercom than Decembers £6.5m bill for Swiss software firm Cominformatic.

The biggest problem of expanding INTO Europe is the lack of understanding of the culture, laws and regulations, he said.

But I have known Lasercom managers for 13 years and trust their integrity and knowledge.

The firms founding chief executive, George Tsitos, has joined the Edotech board. Lasercom will keep its name and continue to serve its customers including Barclays, Axa and HBOS.

Olivier Lebleu, GROUP marketing manager, said: We are a spearhead INTO Europe for Edotech and will keep our official independence. Both firms complement each other.

He said all three firms had different focuses on the customer lifecycle. Cominformatic handled content such as archive retrieval, Lasercom was a consultancy, and Edotech took on delivery.
