Planet Organic launches same day, one-hour London delivery service
Food retailer Planet Organic has launched a fixed-one hour slot delivery service in London.
Deliveries can be made on the same day as the order is placed, or on a day of the customer’s choosing.
Weekday delivery slots are available from 7am until 10pm. Weekend delivery slots are available from 8am until 8pm.
Customers can place orders as late as 6.30pm on weekdays for delivery before 10pm that evening. On weekends deliveries arranged by 4.30pm are eligible for delivery before 8pm.
The orders are picked by staff at Planet Organic’s Westbourne Grove store and prices for the delivery vary,depending on the customers’ proximity to the store.
The service costs £9.50 for customers in postcodes within approximately 6 miles of Westbourne Grove or £15 for those in any other London postcode. The cost is automatically calculated when details are put into the checkout.
The deliveries for the new one-hour service are made by the on-demand delivery specialist, Street Stream.
James Middleton, founder of Street Stream, said: “Precise time slots and flexible delivery options have become an expectation as customers require more timely delivery options that fit around their lifestyles.
“This expectation has been fuelled by same-day delivery becoming the new industry standard set by big retailers like Amazon and Argos, but there’s no reason why independent retailers can’t compete which is why we started Street Stream. It levels the playing field when it comes to delivery with the delivery process put back in control of retailers rather than left in the hands of a 3rd party delivery company.”
Planet Organic also offers a “Flexi Saver Slot” next-day delivery service in London, handled by The Organic Delivery Company. This delivery service is free for orders over £50, and priced at £3.95 for orders under £50.
Outside of London, Planet Organic offers a next day delivery service priced at £6.95; or a standard delivery within 2-3 working days, which is free for orders over £50 and £3.95 for orders under £50.
A minimum delivery charge of £4.95 applies on all orders weighing over 30kg. The service is available across the UK, with the exception of Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Planet Organic’s delivery partners include Parcelforce and DPD. The company switches between delivery partners, depending on commercials.
International deliveries are also available (and the costs are listed on the delivery page on Planet Organic’s website).
The company makes a point of using environmentally responsible packaging, and makes donations to the Woodland Trust to offset the carbon associated with delivery.
