Hogan hoping to deliver for DHL UK people

Deutsche Post World Net, the owners of DHL, have a new managing director of DHL UK.

Irish-born John Hogan will be stepping into the new role immediately.

The move follows Deutsche’s purchase of the remainder of Securicor Omega Holdings, allowing DHL UK to join DPWN’s European network.

Mr Hogan, who joined Securicor Omega Express in 1987, will be responsible for DHL’s UK and Irish business.

After the formation of the joint venture with Deutsche Post in 1999, he joined the board of the Euro Express division.

He was made chief executive of the joint venture company, Securicor Omega Holdings, in October 2001.

DHL APPOINTS NEW UK MD

London, July 4th 2003 – DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, today announced the appointment of John Hogan as UK MD, following the completion of the purchase of the remainder of Securicor Omega Holdings Ltd by Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN). DHL UK joins the rest of DPWN’s European network in uniting the strengths of DHL, Danzas, Deutsche Post Euro Express and now Securicor Omega Holdings Ltd, under the new DHL brand. John will take on responsibility for the new DHL’s UK and Ireland express distribution businesses.
John comments, “I am delighted to have this opportunity and to be part of the effort which will see us establish clear leadership in our business fields in the UK and Ireland. There are many exciting challenges ahead for us, not least the need for us to focus on our day to day current business as well as working to establish the building blocks for our more integrated approach to the markets we serve.” He added, “Our focus will continue to be delivering the best possible service to our customers in all areas of our business, with the additional strength and security they can expect from a global provider.”

John joined Securicor Omega Express (SOE) in London in 1987 and carried out a variety of operations roles, including general manager of one of SOE’s terminals. In 1993 he took on the overall management of the company’s operation in his native Ireland, going on to become managing director of SOE in 1998 and then CEO in 1999. Following the formation of the distribution joint venture between Securicor plc and Deutsche Post AG in April 1999, John was also appointed to the executive board of Deutsche Post Euro Express GmbH. In October 2001, John was appointed CEO of the joint venture company, Securicor Omega Holdings Ltd, with responsibility for the Express and Logistics businesses.

John will report to Dr. Peter E. Kruse, CEO DHL Express Europe, and is a member of the EuroMEG (European Management Executive Group), responsible for the express business units in the UK and Ireland.
