Russia to develop postal service

Over the next 5 years, Russia will invest $350m in the development of mail delivery systems, Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Information Alexander Kiselyov reported at a press conference in the Domodedovo airport.

The first Russian mail plane flew from Domodedovo today under the program for reorganizing the Russian postal service. This flight marks the launch of regular postal flights to the extreme north and the Far East of Russia. According to Kiselyov, the launch was caused by the necessity of meeting the international postal standard G+3. Additionally, the launch of the project has been due to the fact that regular passenger aircraft are often unable to transport an increased volume of mail, particularly in fall and winter.
