Change in Director’s Responsibilities at Business Post

Business Post, one of the UK’s leading express delivery companies, announces that Russell Hodgson, Group Operations Director, has been promoted to Group Managing Director, Parcel Services.

In addition to his existing responsibilities for Network Services, including both Corporate and Franchised locations, Russell will assume responsibility for the Express, International and HomeServe business units. Russell will continue to report to Paul Carvell, Chief Executive, as will the Managing Directors of the Group’s other business units (UK Pallets, UK Today and UK Mail).

Paul Carvell, Chief Executive, stated “I am delighted that Russell, who has had an outstanding career in the parcels sector over 25 years, is taking up this key position. By bringing our parcel services, all of which rely on our shared infrastructure – Network Services – under Russell’s leadership, we will bring additional focus to the Group’s principal area of activities and assist us in maximising our operational leverage”.

Note for Editors
Business Post is one of the UK’s leading express delivery companies, with a market share that has risen progressively to 7% from a national parcel network of 63 depots, of which 40 are franchised. Business Post operates primarily at the top end of the business-to-business market, focusing mainly on overnight deliveries via its Express network, with a customer base which exceeds 18,000 business accounts. In addition to Express, Business Post’s other parcel businesses are International and HomeServe. International is responsible for all shipments coming into and leaving the UK and Eire and acts as FedEx’s UK Global Service Participant. HomeServe is the Group’s business-to-consumer parcels service, and provides high quality next day deliveries to residential addresses.

Business Post’s other businesses are UK Pallets, UK Today and UK Mail, which do not currently use the Group’s parcel network. UK Pallets provides a nationwide express pallet delivery service. UK Today is the Group’s nationwide same-day courier service, and UK Mail is Business Post’s business mail subsidiary.

Russell Hodgson, 54, has spent over 25 years in the parcel industry, holding a number of senior positions. After 14 years at Parceline as Chief Operating Officer, he became Operations Director with Securicor Omega International. In 1997, Russell held the position of Group Managing Director for United Carriers during which time he completed the sale of the business to Geodis and then left to become Director – Mergers and Acquisitions at Jacob Holdings. In January 2001 he joined Business Post as Operations and Franchise Director, becoming Group Operations Director in 2002.
