HyperloopTT begins construction of “world’s first full-scale passenger & freight system”

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) has begun construction on its first full-scale transportation system in Toulouse, France.

In a statement issued last week, HyperloopTT announced the arrival of the first set of tubes for the system.

The tubes are “full scale” with an interior diameter of 4m – big enough to accommodate both passenger capsules and shipping containers – but HyperloopTT is only planning to build a short stretch of piping for now.

The first phase includes a closed 320 meter system that will be operational this year. In addition, a second full-scale system of 1 km elevated by pylons at a height of 5.8 meters will be completed in 2019.
