DPD teaming up with research company TNO on futuristic logistics

DPD is partnering with research company TNO to develop innovative technology solutions for the logistics sector.

In a statement posted on its website today, DPD said that they are focusing on innovation for vehicles, data analytics, robotics and automation.

DPD said that the first development from the partnership is the “SOLiD project”, which aims to produce a “self-organizing package delivery system”.

Sustainability will also be a key consideration – and DPD said that feasibility research is now being done into “zero emission parcel delivery” in Rotterdam.

Eric Dietz, CEO at DPD Netherlands, said that the delivery company aims to “improve life in and around cities” and the partnership with TNO will help it realize this ambition.
