PostNL’s new parcel sorting centre creates 400 jobs

The 7,700-square-meter branch in Apeldoorn-Zuid will process 50,000 to 100,000 parcels per day. The postal company opens the centre in response to the increase in parcels, due to the growing sales of goods via the internet.

Last year PostNL delivered 675,000 packages per day; 207 million in total. That is 17.2 percent more than in 2016. According to the postal company, the new parcel sorting and distribution center in Apeldoorn contributes to national coverage that makes it possible to deliver parcels anywhere in the Netherlands seven days a week.

“In this way we are growing along with the development of large and small e-commerce parties, ” says  Liesbeth Kaashoek, director of packages & logistics at PostNL.

Alderman for economic affairs Jeroen Joon cut a ribbon symbolically in the presence of the staff on Saturday at the branch on the Oude Beekbergerweg in Apeldoorn. He is happy with the development. ” With 400 jobs, the arrival is a great boost for employment”.
