Business Post builds a new European express network

Express carrier Business Post has launched a European road delivery service – Eurodis – in partnership with independent companies across western Europe.
The new bilateral agreements replace arrangements with agents and will help the expansion of its international business by providing return business.

“We are hoping to double turnover in the international express business within the next 12 months, ” said international MD Brian Jenkins. Currently it accounts for 6percent, or t21m, of turnover.

“This new network is unusual in that all the companies involved are privately owned, independent express delivery companies, free from the influence of major global transport companies and European postal authorities, ” said Jenkins.

All the partners had integrated their IT systems, he said, so that each consignment could be tracked throughout the journey.

The network would also improve service quality by bringing 48-hour delivery to large parts of the region and 72 hours for other regions, including Spain and Scandinavia, the company added.

Business Post is also improving its service for customers to the Republic of Ireland through a partnership with First Express, which trades as Nightline.

The Irish company, which has 10 branches, will take responsibility for existing Business Post customers in the republic and its delivery vehicles will carry Business Post branding.
