UK post Watchdog posts new headquarter’s address
Postwatch Northern Ireland, the consumer watchdog for postal services, is set to open its new regional office and UK call centre in Belfast.
The organisation has moved from the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce in Great Victoria Street to its own premises in Arthur Street.
At the same time, Postwatch nationally has moved its UK call centre to Belfast. It employs a staff of 12 and handles hundreds of calls a day.
John Stringer, chairman of Postwatch Northern Ireland, said: “Postal services lie at the heart of social and business life in Northern Ireland.
In the past year, the number of customers helped by Postwatch Northern Ireland doubled.
“Postwatch gets involved in issues including the closure of a specific post office, problems on a delivery round or trials of new products or services in an area. It also runs a complaints service, helping customers who have made a complaint to Royal Mail and have had an unsatisfactory response.
Having Postwatch’s UK call centre based in Northern Ireland is a welcome boost.”
The opening ceremony will be performed by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, councillor Martin Morgan.
Among the guests will be a representative from the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service.
Postwatch helped the service gain a substantial donation from Royal Mail after it experienced major problems with mail delivery. Donors were not being informed of their local donation sessions, resulting in a loss of several hundred blood donations.
