Amtrak gains size

Express parcel company Amtraks capacity has climbed by 30% with the opening of a 3,000 sq m hub for fragile items ranging from wine to flowers. It is near Amtraks existing main hub, north of Birmingham.
The hub is thought to be the first to use entirely state of the art wireless technology. The 100 Dolphn 2D barcode scanners are connected by a secure WiFi radio frequency network to a central system. Terminals with additional tethered scanners and standalone printers are also wireless.
Amtrak is also investing in scanning systems for its collection and delivery networks.
