Nightfreight turns ugly

Nightfreight has revealed that B&Q is its first contract in home delivery of IDW – its term for irregular dimension and weight. IDW is the marketing term for what is usually referred to as ugly freight within the industry.
The service is branded Deliver2home. Three B&Q distribution centres feed into 19 Nightfreight supersites which then deliver to homes. The contract is for 250,000 deliveries a year.
Deliveries are made by the carriers logistics division which operates a two man business to business delivery service for items such as vending machines and furniture. The service is called Pacemaker. The crew will phone ahead to give an estimated time of arrival to the householder.
