Target Express new partnership with Polish carrier
Target Express has secured a unique partnership deal with Polish carrier, Stolica. Following the accession of ten new states to EU membership, Europe’s centre of gravity is moving Eastward and Target is responding by extending its network of partnerships, with plans to introduce similar services in other countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. As a result of this deal, Target customers who import or export consignments via Poland can now benefit from the same ‘silver service’ they already experience across the existing network.
Stolica is a leading player in Poland’s express delivery market, with 21% of domestic market share. This figure is set to grow as the company recently opened Poland’s biggest sorting hub, dealing with 160,000 packages and 120,000 document shipments daily. Their network boasts state-of-the-art sorting and security systems, 2850 employees and 42 depots.
Poland was the first of the eastern European countries to overthrow communist rule, electing the first non-communist government in contemporary Eastern Europe in August 1989. It joined Nato in 1999 and the EU in May of this year.
Stolica joins Target as part of NetExpress Europe, of which Target was a founder member. The scheme allows members access to a number of strategic partnerships with respected European carriers. For customers either exporting or importing goods, the service ensures a cost-effective and secure door-to-door express delivery service to destinations across Europe. Target already offers coverage across the whole of Western Europe through its Road Express service and partnerships brokered through NetExpress. The addition of Poland signals the beginning of a new departure, with the potential for collaborations with other key carriers in central and Eastern European states.
The NetExpress system offers simple pricing with a single tariff for each country, and express road transit times can be as little as 2 days. The service is flexible and reliable, with no limit on consignment weights, proof of delivery on request, and door-to-door track and trace of shipments. As the EU expansion becomes a reality, coverage is set to grow across other Central and Eastern European states in the coming months.
