Latvian Mail co may co-operate with Spain in goods distribution in Baltic Sea region
The state-owned mail company Latvijas Pasts (Latvian Mail) has successfully started negotiations with Spanish mail company Correos y telegrafos about distribution of goods in the Baltic Sea region.
Latvijas Pasts director general Gints Skodovs told BNS that his company wanted to develop its services by taking up also logistics.
It has been agreed with the Spanish company that they could send to Latvia goods which Latvijas Pasts would then distributed in the Baltic states, Sweden, Russia and Poland.
Skodovs said for now the two parties had agreed on specific “homework” that needs to be done for practical implementation of the cooperation discussed during talks in Spain.
He said that Russia, for example, had specific requirements to deliveries that could affect distribution of Spanish wines. All such details need to clarified before real cooperation can begin.
Latvijas Pasts head visited Spain as part of the Latvian business delegation accompanying Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga on a state visit to that country on Oct. 18-21.
Latvijas Pasts is the largest distributor of the press, mail and other deliveries in Latvia.
