Cargus chooses SwipBox Infinity network in Romania

This autumn, Romanian online shoppers will be able to access a new convenient parcel locker solution when logistics provider Cargus rolls out a huge pilot of SwipBox Infinity parcel lockers

Three hundred parcel lockers in just three weeks. That is how many SwipBox Infinity lockers Cargus, one of the largest courier players in Romania, are rolling out in their pilot in selected representative areas in Bucharest this September.

Parcel lockers are the latest in the row of convenient shipping options from Cargus, which until now has included hassle-free courier services and, more recently, PUDOs (pick up, drop off points). Cargus’ move towards parcel lockers is a response to end-user needs and a deep understanding of the market trends.

Among these trends are parcel lockers in strategic places close to end users. Apart from the convenience this provides, it also caters to the increasing numbers of environmentally conscious consumers. By placing big clusters of lockers close to each other and to the end users it drastically reduces the courier mileage and encourages end users to pick up parcels on foot or by bike.

“In these fast-paced times we need to take a step forward and adapt to the market’s new reality and demand, and the new Cargus lockers represent an important milestone in our development strategy. The lockers complete our national out of home network and offer an innovative solution to ecommerce businesses, local and international, and their customers. We are glad that we found a partner like SwipBox that can help us develop an easy, convenient, cost-efficient, contactless and sustainable delivery option,” says Olivier Van Houtte, CEO Cargus.

“Cargus is in many ways an ideal partner for SwipBox. They – like us – are totally focused on optimising the end-user experience. We’re looking forward to developing tomorrow’s solutions for the Romanian market in partnership with Cargus,” says SwipBox CEO Jens Rom.

Jens Rom adds that with this new partnership SwipBox is present in yet another European country and is continuing its expansion. The Infinity locker’s user-friendliness, environmental qualities and the competitive total cost of ownership are the main reasons for the continued growth of SwipBox.
