Amtrak extends web for international deliveries

Amtrak Express Parcels last month launched a range of international express services that can be booked and tracked via the web.
Shipments can be booked and labels printed in the same way as for domestic collections. The system now captures all the special information required for international deliveries, and automatically generates proforma and commercial invoices.
NetDespatch web services underpin the system, eliminating paperwork and providing an online tracking facility for international agents and customers.
The international Worldwide Air and European Road Parcels services both incorporate document, parcel and freight options. Amtrak also has a global response service covering its international Sameday, On-Board Courier, International Mail and Sea Freight products.
Phil young, head of IT at Amtrak, has won the CIO Innovator of the year award for helping pioneer the use of the latest web technology and wireless data collection from two UK emerging technology firms, NetDespatch and Unique
