John Lewis expanding same day delivery service to more UK cities

UK retailer John Lewis is extending its same day delivery service to more cities, following its successful launch in London in August 2022.

In a statement issued on Friday (21 July), John Lewis said that its customers in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham can now use the service too.

Shoppers will be able to order an item online by 10am for delivery between 7pm and 10pm the same evening. All deliveries to customers are made by fully electric vehicles operated by carrier company Stuart.

The retailer said that the service, which costs £9.95 per delivery, has proved most popular for fashion and home accessories.

John Lewis also announced that it is further extending its Click & Collect network with the launch of 72 new outlets in Dobbies Garden Centres. This takes the total number of collection points to 5,700.

In addition, the retailer said that its Deliver to Yodel Store service (formerly known as Collect+ delivered by Yodel) will now be free for orders over £30.

Eva Cullen, Head of Customer Fulfilment Operations at John Lewis, said: “We always want to improve the service for our customers and there’s been a real appetite for same day deliveries. With customers using it for purchases of everything from bed sheets to toothbrushes – we are confident this service could have even more potential in the future.”

Cullen added: “We know that our Click & Collect service offers real convenience to our customers so we are delighted to be Partnering with Dobbies Garden Centres to launch 72 new locations.”
