YEEP! targets 5,000 locations by year-end

YEEP! has reached 4,000 parcel locker locations across the UK and is preparing to roll out its new Generation 3 touchscreen lockers, as the business moves into its next stage of growth.

The company, which operated just over 2,250 locations when Jamie Dickinson was appointed CEO in December last year, is now aiming to reach 5,000 by the end of 2026, with significant funding and plans in place to support its accelerated expansion.

The developments follow a year of transformation at YEEP!, building on the foundations established during its first phase and preparing the business for the demands of operating a significantly larger open network.

Under the leadership of Jamie Dickinson, the work has included strengthening the senior leadership team, significant investment in YEEP!’s locker hardware and customer experience and developing its own technology to manage the deployment and day-to-day operation of a growing estate.

The forthcoming Generation 3 touchscreen locker rollout is one of the most visible results of that investment. Developed with YEEP!’s hardware partner and shareholder kernTerminal AG, Generation 3 combines the company’s solar and battery-powered technology with a new touchscreen interface designed to significantly improve the experience for both delivery drivers and consumers.

All new YEEP! lockers will move to the Generation 3 specification from 2 November 2026, with a programme to upgrade the existing estate by end of Q1 2027. The new generation follows YEEP!’s progression from its original battery-powered lockers to its subsequent move to solar battery technology. YEEP! has also drawn on kernTerminal’s experience of locker testing and deployment across Europe in developing the latest product for the UK market.

Alongside the hardware, YEEP! has developed a bespoke operating system designed around the requirements of an open locker network. The system manages site surveys, installation, scheduling, maintenance and upgrades, giving YEEP! greater visibility and control as the network scales.

Jamie Dickinson, CEO of YEEP!, said: “Reaching 4,000 locations is a big milestone for YEEP!, and the launch of Generation 3 gives us another reason to be excited about where the business is heading.

We’ve learnt a great deal from operating the network and from our work with kernTerminal, and we’ve used that experience to improve how the locker works for the people who interact with it every day, whether that’s a driver delivering parcels or a consumer collecting or returning one.

At the same time, we’ve invested behind the scenes, and we now have the product, people, systems, funding and plan in place to support our growth. Our next milestone is 5,000 lockers, but we are building YEEP! with a much larger network in mind.”

The investment comes as the UK out-of-home delivery market continues to expand and competition across the sector increases. As parcel lockers become a more established part of the delivery and returns mix, YEEP! is growing its open network to serve multiple carriers, combining wider coverage with continued investment in service and reliability. Its solar and battery-powered technology also allows lockers to be installed without a mains electricity connection, giving the company greater flexibility over where it can deploy.

Alan Barrie, Group Board Advisor at YEEP! and kernTerminal AG, said: “The first phase of YEEP! established the proposition, built the network and gave us a huge amount of knowledge about the market, the technology and what our carrier customers need.

Jamie recognised very quickly what the next stage of YEEP! would require. He has brought real pace and commercial focus to the business, strengthened the team and been very clear about where we need to invest. At the same time, he has kept a close eye on the detail, particularly around the product and the experience we deliver for carriers and their customers. We’ve reached 4,000 lockers, but there’s a lot more to come.”
