DHL eCommerce UK: As our business expands, it demands more substantial, highly automated, and comfortable spaces

DHL Parcel UK today announces it is rebranding to DHL eCommerce, adopting the global divisional name and better reflecting the company’s core focus. Alongside the launch of the new brand identity, DHL eCommerce is also unveiling three new sites to support growth across its regional network as part of its UK-wide investment programme.

The openings mark the beginning of a major regional expansion project designed to increase capacity and expedite volume growth, with more sites launching throughout 2024.

Peter Fuller, CEO DHL eCommerce UK, says: “As our business expands, it demands more substantial, highly automated, and comfortable spaces to not only uphold our unwavering commitment to delivering excellent service but also to foster outstanding working environments for our valued team members. At the same time the renaming to DHL eCommerce ensures consistent brand visibility and identity across all countries in which we operate and reflect our division’s business activities and strategy even better.”

The three recently established sites are located in Coventry, Kidderminster and Preston and bring a total of £18.4 million worth of investment across the three key regions.

The Coventry depot facility spans 80,000 square feet and includes almost double the number of loading bays than the previous facility. The new site will create 80 new jobs in the area.

Kidderminster will now host a new facility of just over 40,000 square feet, boasting a new state-of-the-art warehouse automation system which will deliver an improved service throughout the Black Country area.

The new Preston site is nearly triple the size of the old one in the area, at 64,000 square feet. The facility houses an ultramodern sortation system which can efficiently sort up to 3,000 parcels per hour.

Both the Kidderminster and Preston sites are near previous facilities ensuring job stability for employees to transfer to the new locations.  All sites boost DHL’s capacity to serve its B2B and B2C customers as well as high-quality facilities for employees.

The investment in strategic regional sites is part of a wider £482m investment in DHL’s UK operation which includes the creation of a new, second hub in Coventry which is scheduled to open in summer 2024.
