Posten Bring Marks an Important Step in Fleet Electrification
14 new electric trucks from Mercedes-Benz have been delivered to Posten Bring. Most of them will now be put into operation in the Oslo area, where they will be used for local distribution.
“This is an important step in the electrification of our heavier vehicles. It is in daily operations that we actually cut emissions,” says Director of Vehicle Operations at Posten Bring, Margrethe Aamodt.
13 of the cars will enter service in Oslo, while one will be used in Stavanger.
For the Oslo area, this means that 40 % of all truck transport runs on electricity or biogas.
Oslo is an area where we drive a lot and densely. When we get more fossil-free cars here, it gives a real reduction in emissions. That’s how we have to work if we are to reach our goals, says district manager Marta Vegsund Andreassen at Posten Bring Bildrift Oslo.
With the new delivery, approximately 20 percent of all owned trucks in Posten Bring are fully electric. The replacement of diesel trucks will continue next year as the group plans to acquire 42 new electric trucks by the first quarter of 2027.
We will continue to invest in solutions that actually work in operation. With today’s technology, we see that the vast majority of our transport missions can be solved with alternative drivelines, continues Aamodt.
Signs of increased pressure
The trucks are supplied by Bertel O. Steen Lastebil og Bus, which is experiencing increasing demand for electric solutions in the heavy-duty truck segment.
“We see that more people are now moving from pilot to using this on a larger scale. Posten Bring is a good example of electric trucks working in demanding distribution,” says CEO Jarle Viuls of Bertel O. Steen Lastebil og Bus.
