Parcel Tax: shöpping.at Helps Retailers Avoid Additional Costs

With the decision to introduce a parcel tax of up to 2.40 euros (incl. VAT) per shipment from 1 October, many online retailers in Austria are facing new challenges. Rising costs and additional administrative effort increase the pressure for companies as well as ultimately for customers.

With shöpping.at, Austrian Post offers a strong domestic alternative: Since the trade turnover generated over shöpping.at in the previous year was less than EUR 100 million, orders processed via the online marketplace are exempt from parcel tax. This results in a clear advantage for retailers – they can offer their products without additional taxes and keep their prices stable.

Margit Waldau, Head of shöpping.at: “Especially now, it is important to offer Austrian online retailers concrete and easy-to-implement solutions. With shöpping.at, we have an established platform that relieves retailers in this challenging situation, without additional levies, without fixed costs and without risk. At the same time, online shoppers also benefit, as products can continue to be offered at fair prices.”

As Austria’s largest online marketplace, shöpping.at also offers access to a wide range of customers and strengthens domestic value creation. Retailers benefit from Austrian Post’s established logistics infrastructure as well as from an environment that is specifically geared to the domestic market.

For retailers who want to expand or secure their sales channels, this offers an attractive opportunity: Betting on shöpping.at now means building a parcel tax-free alternative at an early stage and making yourself less dependent on rising costs in online retail.
