SwipBox Launches Hardware-Agnostic Software Platform for Mixed Locker Networks
SwipBox is opening its parcel locker software platform to hardware from multiple manufacturers, giving carriers and network operators the flexibility to manage mixed locker networks through a single software solution.
The hardware-agnostic platform for parcel locker networks marks a strategic move from SwipBox, enabling carriers and network operators to run SwipBox software – both locker UI and backend – across parcel lockers from multiple manufacturers.
The new offering will give carriers and network operators greater flexibility to integrate locker hardware from different manufacturers into a single network, while continuing to benefit from SwipBox’s proven, scalable software and market-leading outdoor lockers.
One platform for mixed locker networks – protecting investments
Many carriers and network operators today find themselves in a challenging situation. They have built locker networks using hardware from several different manufacturers – often with separate software systems for each.
By introducing this solution, SwipBox removes that challenge, letting customers consolidate existing mixed hardware fleets onto one scalable software solution without having to replace their current investments. Going forward, customers can freely choose the best hardware for each location, while maintaining a unified integration, operation and customer experience.
Key facts about the offering:
• Manage any UI-based locker via the SwipBox Infinity solution
• Consolidate existing hardware from multiple vendors onto one scalable platform
• Available as a standalone product within the SwipBox Infinity software solution, independent of SwipBox hardware purchases
• Fully integrated into the proven SwipBox Infinity solution – reliability and scalability demonstrated across a network of over 55,000 lockers and millions of monthly transactions
• ISO 27001 certified security
• Backed by an experienced technical team of over 120 people.
Ten years of industry knowledge – built into the platform
SwipBox has worked in the parcel locker industry for more than a decade, and all of the knowledge and experience gained over those years has been engineered into the company’s software platform and user interface. The result is a platform that combines startup-speed innovation with enterprise-grade reliability and scale.
“We are confident that we have the best outdoor lockers on the market. That gives our customers a unique opportunity: build your network with our outdoor lockers as the foundation, run everything on our software – and integrate lockers from other manufacturers wherever it makes sense. You get the best hardware, one unified software platform and the ability to build on your existing hardware investments rather than replace them. That is exactly the flexibility our customers have been asking for,” says Kent Olenklint Olsson, CEO of SwipBox.
Strengthened by proven pioneers in open, agnostic locker networks
To accelerate this strategy, SwipBox has strengthened its team with two of the industry’s foremost pioneers in hardware-agnostic parcel locker software, Steffen Luippold and Fabian Renner. As one of the founders of Smartmile, Steffen Luippold was in charge of technology, innovation and network operations, while Fabian in his previous role as CTO at Smartmile was the principal architect behind Smartmile’s hardware-agnostic solution.
Both have over 10 years of market experience in building software around the core principle of hardware agnosticism, designed for rapid integration of partners in open network settings – including a track record of integrating new locker models in less than a day, and hands-on experience building and operating national open networks on mixed locker hardware with multiple carriers integrated, in the Netherlands (sold to DHL) and Finland (sold to Matkahuolto).
“For me SwipBox incorporates the best of two worlds: the drive and speed of innovation still inherited from their startup days, combined with the maturity and reliability of a system built by a larger organisation. Coming from the constraints of a startup background, it has been a real pleasure to be able to execute with the power of a tech team of over 120 people. Integrating the agnostic principle into a proven and scalable existing solution that handles millions of transactions for our partners every month was an exciting challenge to accomplish – and having done so in a matter of weeks proves to me that SwipBox has both the strong platform and the team to back it,” says Steffen Luippold.
