NIPOST Constitutes Debt Recovery Committee

Determined to retrieve the huge debt owed it by various organisations NIPOST Abuja territory has set up a debt recovery commitee to go after the numerous debtors and increase the fortune of the organisation.
Area Postal Manager, Abuja Territory, Alhaji Bashiru Mahmud who announced this at a Customers Forum in Abuja yesterday also stated that his territory is set to computerise all its operations by the first quarter of 2009.
This, he said, would address some of the problems facing the organisation such as billing system and poor service delivery to its customers.
Although, the Area Postal Manager failed to disclose the amount owed it, he appealed to ministries, parastatals, corporate bodies and other customers who are indebted to it debt, as failure to do so will force the committee to come afte them.
Explaining further, Alhaji Mahmud said with the computerisation of operations, the billing system would be done electronically to check over-billing being complained by customers. He assured that even the billing system would be gotten electronically and distributed in hard copies to the customers.
Alhaji Mahmud also announced the introduction of Airpost Express which he said is aimed at ensuring prompt and fast delivery of very timely messages to customers. He pointed out that the project which would be launched by next year would enable the organisation to achieve the six hours delivery services.
The NIPOST boss who stated that the project would be tied to the courier arm of the organisation, EMS services added that all its operations would be computerised by the first quarter of 2009 to address the problem of over billing and improve services because its services are insured.
