Slovakia Postal services switches to the euro

On the 2nd January this year, Slovenska Posta switched almost all of its services including the payment of pensions, to the Euro currency.
Slovenska Posta said that although there had been minor problems as postal staff adapted to new systems, customers had not been greatly inconvenienced.
A total of 13 thousand workers in Slovakia have now switched over to the Euro out of some 16 thousand. Postal staff at Slovenska Posta had received a thorough training prior to the changeover to ensure that the change in currency on at least 200 different products was as seamless as possible through some 600 branches.
The introduction of the euro also means change for around 21 major information systems.
“In an environment that is finally opened up to competition in all areas of the postal market, the euro becomes the symbol of the success of Slovak-mail,” concluded the Director-General Libor Chrast.
