Post Office ready to deliver a full package for e-tailers

The Post Office is now marketing the complete package to a number of
large e-tailing companies.

Nigel Moore, marketing director for Post Office home shopping, says:
“The Post Office is a trusted home shopping partner as it delivers mail
and parcels to the 27 million addresses throughout the UK every day, no
matter how remote.”

Moore adds: “The Post Office offers choice, convenience and value to
consumers that no other delivery company can do.”

Group managing director of distribution services, Kevin Williams, says:
“The increasingrole of the Internet in everyone’s lives, and a greater
flexibility in services being demanded by businesses and consumers
alike, has made postal authorities across the world sit up and take
notice.”

A trial enabling customers to nominate their local Post Office branch
as an alternative address for the delivery of parcels, packages and
items requiring a signature is already under way.

The Royal Mail delivers 80 million items a day, while subsidiary
Parcelforce handles 500,000 packages.
