UPS driver shot in the back in Chicago

A UPS delivery driver is in a critical condition after being shot in the back during an apparent robbery attempt, The Chicago Tribune reports.

A UPS delivery driver is in a critical condition after being shot in the back during an apparent robbery attempt, The Chicago Tribune reports.

The newspaper states:

Chicago police say the unidentified driver had just finished making a delivery in the when two men approached him and ordered him to drive away in his truck with them inside.

The driver refused and was trying to run away when he was shot.

Fire officials say he’s in critical condition.

UPS spokeswoman Susan Rosenberg says the driver was aware of his surroundings and could speak after the shooting. She says officials have been in contact with the man’s family.

Rosenberg says UPS security officials are working with police.
