Danzas acquires Colombian logistics firm

Danzas Group, continuing its string of deals with former Air Express International agents, has acquired Florcarga SA, one of Colombia’s top logistics providers.

Danzas, which had been operating separately in Colombia since 1971, will integrate Florcarga’s operations into a new company known as Danzas SA. It will operate through seven trading centers with about 300 employees.

The Florcarga takeover is another step in Danzas’ effort to conclude deals with AEI’s former joint-venture partners or agents around the world. Danzas has acquired or made deals with 11 of those 16 former AEI partners since acquiring AEI last year.

Executives say the Florcarga deal will help Danzas beef up its presence in Latin America, where Danzas has been operating since 1947. In February, Danzas acquired the international logistics business of a Chilean firm, Deca Express SA. With the Florcarga deal, Danzas now operates in 8 Latin American countries, with 35 Danzas-owned offices and 30 joint-venture operations in the region.

Florcarga’s business focuses mainly on customs brokerage, bonded warehousing and activities related to Colombia’s free trade zones.
