Brazilian postal workers strike
Brazilian postal workers kicked off a nationwide strike on 16 September as government officials scrambled to prepare a new wage offer, reports Dow Jones.

A total of 30 of the nation’s 35 postal union locals were on strike as of Wednesday morning, according to a statement by the National Federation of Postal Workers. The striking locals cover about 70% of the nation’s 110,000 postal workers.
The federation said the strike was set to last indefinitely.
“It is evident that the National Postal Service will only make an offer under pressure of a strike,” the federation said in its statement.
Unions are seeking a 41% wage increase. The government made a preliminary offer of a 9% hike before talks broke down on 15 September.
Communications minister Helio Costa, in a statement released by the government’s Agencia Brasil news service, said he was preparing a new offer.
“I’m hopeful we can find a solution in the next few hours,” said Costa.
The Brazilian post offer good services, but when its workers strike, it´s a big problem in Brazil, specially for companies and direct marketing, too.
For the other side, it´s a great oportunity to couriers and air express companies.

Yep! They’re still on strike. And guess what? There was a meeting at the federal court this morning in order to find a deal and finish the strike. However the unions started to argue themselves which upset the communications minister. So, there was’t a deal and the case will be judged in a special court. By now all the employees will lose the wage increase (9%).
