Swiss Post replace Kunz with Bucher
Swiss Post has appointed Jürg Bucher as its new CEO, succeeding Michel Kunz, who is leaving the company by mutual consent. Bucher (pictured right) has worked in senior positions at PTT and Swiss Post for about 25 years, and since 2003 has been the head of PostFinance and a member of Executive Management.
The Board of Directors of Swiss Post and CEO Michel Kunz have agreed to part company. This measure is taken because of irreconcilable differences on principal issues. The Board thanks him for his commitment to the various jobs he has done during his many years working for Swiss Post, and wishes him all the best for his future career.
The newly appointed CEO Jürg Bucher, 62, can look back on a successful career at Swiss Post. Under his seven years of management, PostFinance has developed into Swiss Post’s most profitable Group unit. Having worked for so long at Swiss Post, Jürg Bucher has profound knowledge of all of its areas of business. He is respected by staff at all levels of the organisation for his professionalism, his competence in every aspect of personnel management, his skills as a team leader, his straightforwardness and his fairness.
Jürg Bucher guarantees continuity. His appointment is also a tribute to the central strategic importance of PostFinance as the most profitable source of earnings at Swiss Post. As he implements the vision approved by the Board of Directors and Executive Management, Bucher can count on the unreserved support of both bodies. In addition to his role as CEO, Jürg Bucher will also continue as Head of PostFinance.
“In Jürg Bucher, the Board of Directors is welcoming a strong and very experienced CEO on board. I look forward to working with him and the Executive Management as we tackle the great challenges that lie ahead for Swiss Post in the years to come,” says Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Claude Béglé.
