D Logistics makes point – acquisition of Collectpoint

UK-based e-commerce delivery provider Collectpoint is expecting “exponential growth”, following the acquisition of 51% of its stakehold and a cash injection by D Logistics subsidiary PickPoint.
Collectpoint spent last year setting up a UK network of over 2000 delivery points, for business to consumer packages sold via the Internet.

Scott Bell, commercial director for Collectpoint, said: “We are talking about growth in the next year of over 1,000%.

“For the first few months of business we were buying ourselves into the market, but the additional funding means we are now here for the long term.”

PickPoint already processes between 50 and 100 parcels a day, delivered through 1,500 points for the B2C market in Germany.

The company sees the buy as the first move towards establishing a delivery network across Europe. A spokesman said: “Collectpoint is the most successful British company in this field, and has a similar structure to us. It is a step towards a European network.”

The two companies offer shippers a network of locations to deliver their products.

Partners include mail order and TV shopping companies.
