La Poste workers in national walk-out

Workers at French postal operator La Poste are taking part in a national strike on March 23. The postal strike forms a part of a nationwide industrial action by the country’s public sector workers.

The strikes are in protest against the government’s social and economic policies – coming two days after president Nicolas Sarkozy’s UMP party suffered a heavy defeat at regional elections.

Hospitals, transport and schools have also been affected.
