FedEx Cares Week kicks-off in China
FedEx Express is marking its annual FedEx Cares Week – a celebration of volunteerism at FedEx – in China from September 11-19. Into its third year in China, FedEx is supporting various activities initiated by employees who donate their time and talents to give back the community where they live and work.
“FedEx is an advocate of giving back to our local communities through action,” said David L. Cunningham Jr, president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific. “I am proud of our volunteers who have demonstrated how to connect the world in a responsible and resourceful manner through volunteerism, and by doing their bit to enhancing the environment in the communities,”
Joining over 500 FedEx volunteers in 11 Asia markets, more than 330 FedEx China volunteers will take part in 19 community activities in 13 cities around the country. During the week-long event, FedEx China volunteers will commit to a range of activities including caring for the elderly; taking children with special needs on outings; playing games with special needs children, holding a clothing drive; and, cleaning and enhancing schools, parks, and community centers.
“Our employees embody that passion with their commitment to volunteer and make a difference in their communities”, said Eddy Chan, senior vice president, FedEx China.
“I am proud to serve as a volunteer team leader for the FedEx Cares Week,” said David Lou, senior security specialist in Beijing. “As a team, our volunteers make a real difference at our communities Cerebral Palsy Children’s Centre.”
First launched in the US in 2005, FedEx Cares Week will be celebrated on September 17 – 25 in the US, Europe, and the Latin America/ Caribbean region.
