APC Overnight posts record pre-tax profit
APC Overnight has reported a record pre-tax profit of £2m on a 2% revenue rise, for the year ended on 31 March. The Wolverhampton-based parcel delivery network saw turnover grow to £52.5m, while pre-tax profit rose sharply to £2m compared to £0.3m in the 12 months to 31 March 2009, reports Roadtransport.com.
Ivor Skinner, managing director at APC, told Roadtransport.com that an internal restructure was able to cut overheads substantially, including a 10% reduction in the company’s administration bill.
The expansion of several members’ depots and operations, coupled with a strong sales team, is boosted profit.
Skinner says plans for the current financial year include investments in IT and more overseas work.
He concludes: “In addition to continuing to improve and maintain the quality of our UK services, we have plans to take APC Overnight services worldwide with our own APC international service. Our primary focus will be road and rail partnerships with complementary European network operators.”
