PostBus wins 10-year Frauenfeld contract

PostBus Switzerland Ltd has won the public tender for urban bus services in the city of Frauenfeld. PostBus – owned by Swiss Post – will operate the urban bus network for a period of 10 years from December 2011.

The total order volume amounts to around CHF 29m.

The contract win is another success for PostBus, only three weeks after the company won the public tender for a bus services in Liechtenstein.

PostBus won the last tender in the city of Frauenfeld and has operated the bus network there since 2001. Ten maxi-buses operate on five routes.

In 2011, PostBus will acquire and operate six new buses including two hybrid buses from MAN.

PostBus has already gained experience with hybrid technology. Since April 2010 a hybrid Postbus has been operating in the Berne region on scheduled routes. It was also used for test purposes in Frauenfeld.
