Costa Rica's Post Office To Enter International Airmail Service

Correos de Costa Rica – Costa Rica’s post office – announced that it will compete in the international air mail service, for mail and

packages, in a program called Comercio Electrónico that will begin in November.

Purchases online and shipped to Costa Rica, in most cases, required an international mail box.

Currently companies like Aerocasillas, JetBox and AirMail Costa Rica. These services offer a virtual mailbox in the United States

where mail and packages are delivered to and forwarded to Costa Rica.

Correos plans to enter this competitive market in time for the 2011 Christmas shopping season and is in addition to a host of new

and old services that many in Costa Rica do not even know exist, like courier and telegram services and the recently added

“correogiros”, the transfer of funds by way of the post office.
