KLM CARGO, TPG UNIT TNT EXPRESS IN EUROPEAN FREIGHTER ALLIANCE

Section: COMPANY NEWS

AMSTERDAM (AFX) – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines NV and TPG NV unit TNT Express announced that from Oct 29, TNT Express will become the sole supplier of European airborne feeder services for KLM Cargo.

Operations will begin with shared utilisation of TNT Express freighter capacity on key routes to Helsinki, Dublin, Oporto and Madrid.

A high frequency truck service between TNT’s hub in Liege, Belgium, and KLM’s hub at Schiphol will ensure “competitive” throughput times for customers, the companies said.

The cooperation enables TNT Express to extend collection cut-off times and provide shorter door-to-door delivery times in many parts of Europe, while KLM Cargo will no longer operate its leased freighter on European routes.

Both parties agreed to further expand cooperation by improving frequencies and adding other destinations in the coming period.

No financial details were disclosed.
