Regional carrier opens package sorting plant in Los Angeles

Regional express carrier Golden State Overnight has opened a new package sorting facility near Los Angeles Airport. The company based in Alameda, California, said the new facility would allow it to expand operations as its ground and priority parcel delivery services grow in the southwest.

GSO has been in business since 1995, providing overnight deliveries in California, as well as in parts of Nevada and Arizona.

It says it can provide a “significant advantage” over national carriers with its regional focus.

The company provides a GSO Ground and GSO Priority Overnight delivery services allowing next-day and overnight delivery including 8am and 10.30am options, as well as Saturday delivery.

GSO claims its customers can save 40% compared to priority overnight services available through national carriers.

The GSO Ground service was expanded in February to provide next-day services throughout California and in metropolitan areas of Nevada and Arizona. The service provides a similar price level to next-day services from other carriers, but GSO customers are not charged delivery or handling fees, or for add-ons like adult signatures.

Dana Hyatt, GSO president, said the new GSO service was gaining in popularity, and that the new Los Angeles facility would allow for services to be further improved.

“The new Los Angeles facility allows us to process an ever-increasing volume of packages, while decreasing package handling times and speeding delivery routes through Los Angeles,” said Hyatt.

“This will benefit GSO customers who rely on the exceptional on-time delivery standards we’ve become known for, and ensure we stay on top of the rapidly growing demand for our recently expanded GSO Ground service.
