Norway Post continues acquisition trail in logistics sector

Norway Post is continuing its run of acquisitions in the field of logistics, taking over shipping, forwarding, distribution and third party logistics firm Frederikstad Transport & Spedisjon (FTS) Ltd. The company is based in Old Frederikstad in south-east Norway, and was established in 1989. It has about 50 employees and 30 of its own vehicles.

FTS receives, stores and clears items from abroad through customs, as well as distributing them across Norway.

As well as handling items from the Nordic countries, Norway Post said FTS handles shipments to and from China, Taiwan and other areas in the Far East, as well as dealing with shipments to and from European countries, with much of its business with Italy, Germany and the Benelux region.

The firm also runs a taxi company by the name of Lisleby Varetaxi AS in the Østfold and Oslo area.

Arne Bjørn Dahl, the group director for logistics at Norway Post, said: “This acquisition is part of the Group’s strategic focus, and means that we strengthen our position in cross-border transfers to and from the Nordic countries.”

Following the acquisition, which remains subject to approval by competition authorities, FTS will become part of Norway Post’s Bring Cargo logistics subsidiary.

Jon Borreson, CEO of FTS, said: “To become part of Bring means becoming part of a professional and growing logistics organisation where we will be able to continue to develop.”

Norway Post acquired three logistics companies last year – Bergen Container & Transport, which operates in the Oslo and Trondheim areas, Swedish cross-border logistics firm IntertranspedIA Ytrans and Swedish logistics firm Coldsped.
